Dr. George Sonbol, DDS

Oral Surgery

At Midtown Modern Dentistry, we tend to focus on preventive care and conservative therapies. But sometimes, oral surgery is the best option. Oral surgery helps us relieve pain caused by a severe infection, treat an advanced case of periodontal disease, and remove impacted wisdom teeth that are affecting the health of other teeth.

Simple and Surgical Extractions

While we’ll do what we can to help save your tooth, in some cases, it’s best that the tooth comes out. Severe trauma, infection, or decay can all be reasons to remove a tooth.

Generally speaking, extractions come in two types:

Simple Extractions: These can be performed quickly and efficiently with modern techniques.

Surgical Extractions: This type of procedure requires us to make a small incision in the gum to get to the tooth and stitches to help the site heal well.

Oral Surgery After Care

After you’ve had oral surgery, it’s important to practice good home care to promote fast healing and avoid complications. Dr. Sonbol will review your instructions with you before your surgery to make sure that you understand them. Following your surgery, you are more than welcome to call our office if you have any questions or concerns.
